Thanks for this post, Gwen. I saw the same 10016 errors related to the "Storage Reports Service" component on our SBS 2011 install and the above fixed them.

Once logged on you could drag the network folder to the Dock. It will always be there when you log on. When you click on it it will automatically connect to the share.

It is still awkward to maintain Macs in a Windows environment. It's like trying to fit a square perfectly in a circle :)

Macs generally seem to need more time to connect to SMB shares. You could try turning off digitally signing for SMB. http://krypted.com/active-directory/disable-smb-signing/

Hope to have been of help.

Hi Gwen - thank you for this walk through which was very helpful. I have one other problem. In my SBS2003 configuration, when I logged on from my iMac, I saw the SBS 2003 server name within my Shared computer listing in Finder.

Now, I find that before the server appears in that listing, I have to goto Finder > Go > Connect to server - which is a real pain. Also, I used to see all of the other computers (mostly PC's) that were connected to the server and on the network. Now I dont see them. I wonder if you know what steps I have missed. I am assuming that it is on the server?

Thanks very much for any help you can offer

regards

True. Having a Workstation or a MacMini is less reliable. I like HP ProLiant Servers!! They rule!
