Well I’ve decided to touch up yet another of my old models.
And this is the rework so far:
As I was looking outside today at work I noticed that I would have to spend yet another weekend with a gray, dark sky and raindrops everywhere I go. Why couldn’t weather be like this during the week instead of during my weekend? Did I do something wrong?
I want the sun!
Sigh…
I think I need some chocolate to cheer up my mood…
Well I am currently developing an application for a customer in visual basic .net 2007. The application has to load a series of thumbnails pictures from a directory. The directories contain the original sized pictures (measuring up to 3.5 MB a piece). I decided to put resized pictures into my imagelist, so instead of 3500*2400 something they get to be 120*80. I did this to keep the memory usage low. When the user double clicks it opens a full screen view of the original picture.
This part of the program works just fine. Until I decide to load a really huge folder (750 pictures +- 1.3GB). It takes a whopping 5 to 7 minutes to load every single thumbnail.
I’m trying to find an optimized way to load in the thumbnails but so far I haven’t had any luck, the program just grabs all cpu activity for itself. I’ve consulted several other programmers but none have got a clue how to increase the speed.
I guess I’ll just have to rethink the whole thumbnail thing. Sigh…
Well here’s a picture of what I’ve got so far:
Did I mention yet I like barbeques? Well I do!
Hmmmm meat!
The time has finally come, I decided this morning that I was going out and wasn’t returning home untill I got myself a new notebook. I came home with the macbook (2,16GHz White model). I love it, I didn’t expect it to be that much faster then my mac mini G4. Turns out I’m wrong, the macbook outperforms the mini on every level. I am considering using it as my desktop also… Yes it is that much more performant
The transition of files from the mini to the macbook took a while. When I say a while I mean a whopping two hours. Thank god I could do this through the firewire ports (400Mbps) and not over a crossed cable, that thorougly reduced the time. I had to replace a few PPC programs by their intel equivalents and I was ready to roll.
Oh boy, it smells so new, there’s nothing better then the smell of new hardware
I wonder how much the mac mini would make on the second hand market
