A tour through my command station

also know as my room or my habitat.

Let’s start of with my book closet (which is ironically mostly filled with dvd’s).

On the bottom shelf you can find some tv series on dvd and my modest game collection, on the shelf above you can find most of my dvd’s.

This shelf is called the star trek shelf :D Star trek DVD’s and books and a starship and a tribble (hiding behind the stack of books).

Above the star trek shelf we find my modest star wars book collection.

Next to the star wars books we can find most of my pc related books, being guarded by a decepticon, predacon and alien.

On the closet we can find boxes.

And this is the actual command center! There’s a windows desktop to the left that can’t be seen, the powermac is more of a nostalgia thing. On the desk we can also find my ps2 and nintendo Wii (WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!).

Another piece of old skool is this book, for those who know dutch, read the text on it. This should give you an idea of how old this book actually is.

Teknoman at last!

Some of you might remember me rambling about teknoman in some of me older posts, well good news I’ve finally found them on dvd. I’ve found them in a belgian store named archonia, I’m really thankful that chris told me about this site. I ordered them last week and they arrived on valentines day. There was one slight catch, these dvd’s were only available in regio 1, these were not playable on any of the dvd-players we had in the home.

Or were they?

Yes the system obviously was beatable, I managed to get my hands on regionX. This is a loader for the playstation 2 which allows you to select the region of the dvd you want to view.

I’m leaving now, I’ve got to find out which dvd’s I’m going to order next from Archonia.

You deserve it

Snow, upgrades, lego and deviantart!

About friggin time!

Finally snow! I was afraid it wasn’t going to snow this winter, but thank God that he proved me wrong. I always enjoy waking up and seeing a white blanket outside. Even though I don’t like driving on snow I didn’t mind the short drive to the drug store and afterwards to work. It was hard not to stare outside the whole time to look at the snow.

At work I am currently trying to upgrade both our php and mysql versions both from version 4 to version 5. I’m trying this first on our local test system. At first it looked as if the update succeeded, but upon closer inspection I noticed that our webshop was fubarred, the other sites looked just fine. So I’m almost certain the problem lies within the webshop application itself instead of the upgrade. I hope I can solve this problem soon so that I’ll be able to upgrade our webserver.

In other news I finally found the first lego star wars game, so I can now play the first three parts of the trilogy with lego characters. These games are so much fun, I wish there were more platform games like this. I’ve allready finished the first few levels. My only regret about the lego star wars games is that the levels are so short.

What many of you probably also don’t know is that I have a deviantart account on which I often place my artwork, so if you are a fellow deviant, please check out my account.

Wii meets its predecessor

So today I set the Gamecube next to the Wii today. Because the Wii supports all gamecube games the gamecube itself has gotten useless and is collecting dust on my shelf. Selling it isn’t an option, because you can’t get much money out of them.

The gamecube itself was the most underrated console of its generation, many people don’t even know that this console was more powerful than the competitor the playstation 2. The future of the Wii however looks much brighter than that of the gamecube. Unlike the current generation X-box 360 and playstation 3 the Wii doesn’t sport a super duper graphics chipset. Yet it’s selling so fast. Why, well many people claim that the unique controller is an important factor and I agree, but the even more important factor is, the price. That’s right, it’s new, it’s good and above all: It’s frigging cheap!

And not only for the customers, but also for the developers! The development kit is largelly based on the gamecube kit that results in a cheap price tag and an almost identical syntax. This on its turn results in cheaper development cost.

Game publishers won’t ignore the Wii, too many units have been sold and there is lots and lots of money to be made.
